2010 boys' tennis team sets the bar high

Throughout the school’s long history, there have been few sports teams that have achieved the level of success that the 2010 boys’ varsity tennis team enjoyed. At the end of the terrific season, the team finished at second in the entire nation, behind only Menlo School in Atherton.

2010 Recap: Although only Williams and Nag qualified for CCS last year, another key runner, junior Courtney Schlossareck, was injured. With this returning talent, the team hopes to reach state this year as team.

Explosions of cheering resonated across the streets of Washington, D.C., when Barack Obama took the oath to be the 44th president on Jan. 20, 2009. Obama was the first Democratic president since Bill Clinton, and the first African-American president ever. Most Americans were eager for change.
This support, however, has lessened with time. Obama’s decline in popularity can be attributed to numerous problems—particularly continued war and a bad economy. The “time for change” did not satisfy liberal and conservative cravings alike.

Senior recalls World Cup experience

From June 11 to July 11, millions of fans worldwide tuned in to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Among them was senior Aditya Dev, who was merely hundreds of feet away from some of the most talented soccer players on the planet.

Changing summers, more changes to come?

Did you notice the summer stretched a little longer this year?

This trend was common across high schools in California, and Saratoga was no exception. The summer of 2010 was indeed longer than usual; however, next year's summer will be noticeably shorter. These seemingly patternless schedules actually hold a worthy purpose—to make room for the first semester to end before winter break next year.

Fashion trends of the last decade

With every new time period comes a fashion transformation. Whether it reflects the economic standards of the people or the strife of the country, fashion is affected by its surroundings and the people who make it.

The 2000s were no exception to this as trends ranged from skinny jeans to leggings; slip-on shoes to the infamous Crocs. But when the current generation reminisces about the past 10 years, fashion will be a major component by which to judge the decade.

CEOs running for office may not have the right background

California’s 2010 elections for political office have once again produced some interesting candidates to consider. This time, besides lawyers and mayors, there have been CEOs moving toward the ticket, namely, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman for governor and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina for senator.

Classes start to prep for Homecoming week

It’s that time of year again. With Homecoming just around the corner, each class is quickly looking for supplies and a location to begin work on their decorations.

Homecoming, one of the school's most anticipated and competitive school activities, involves each class vying against the others to win through themed dances and decorations and culminating at the end of the week with a student-picked Homecoming court. At the end of this intense competition, there is a football game and dance.
