Grad goes from the classroom to the Marine Corps

The Marine Corps Recruit Depot or MCRD in San Diego is an alien world within the bustling city. A stone’s throw from the San Diego International Airport, the Marines just within sight from the rest of the world, but completely isolated. Recruits are allowed no contact with the outside except for letters and are held to the highest standards of discipline and conduct. This is what 2010 alumnus of Danny Baldwin stepped into.

SHS alumnus Eileen Allen becomes new guidance counselor

A decade ago, Eileen Allen was asking her guidance counselor for college advice. Now, a decade later, she is the one who is giving the advice.

After graduating from SHS in 2001 and going on to receive her undergraduate degree from Cal Poly in San Luis Opispo, Allen has become the newest member of the guidance department and a Link Crew coordinator. This alumnus hopes her own experiences at Saratoga High will enable her to empathize and easily relate to currents students.

College not so bad after all

After graduating from Saratoga High last year, alumnus Kirstie Lee was eagerly anticipating starting at UC Berkeley—but was also unsure of what her first year of college would hold for her. Many friends told her freshman year was great; others said it was horrible. A year later, Lee is the one doing the advising—and she's come out with a positive impression.

2007 alumnus unexpectedly passes away in his sleep

On the morning of Jan. 5, Shota Hasegawa, a 2007 graduate, a passed away in his sleep. The reasons for his death are still unknown and under investigation, but in the meantime, students, teachers and parents in the school's music community have been left to deal with a tragic loss.

As a cartoonist for Georgetown University’s The Hoya, Yang has free reign as to what to do with his cartoon, Disconcerted Demagogue.

“No one tells me what to draw—I get to choose,” said Yang. “Only one thing matters: make the readers laugh.”

Alumnus creates Dressshare to help girls exchange clothing

Pyghambarzadeh hopes her website www.dressshare.com, which allows girls to trade clothes online, helps them save time and money.

There is an overwhelming and ever-growing list of accomplishments that alumni of Saratoga High have achieved. Each success story seems to top the rest, yet all are unique in their own way. Alumnus Roza Pyghambarzadeh, who graduated from Saratoga High in 2007, is not only one of these graduates who have raised the bar in the past few years, but she has done it in style. Pyghambarzadeh, a sophomore at the Marshall School of Business at USC, started her own social networking website for females to “swap dresses by simply going online and browsing each other’s profiles.”
