Boys’ lacrosse looks to rebuild

February 11, 2015 — by Aditya Chaudhry and Jihau Yu

Preview of the boys lacrose season.

Coach: Bill Kurz

2013-2014 Record: 8-7

2013-2014 Season Recap: Last season, the team shifted from an emphasis of conditioning to hand and stick control. While this helped players improve their skills, the lack of conditioning meant the players would get too tired easily affecting the overall performance. The team played well enough to go from a 5-13 season to achieving a winning record, but they did not make CCS.

Star Players: Junior Quincy Owyang and sophomore Aidan Peck

Key Additions: Sophomores Derek Yun, Kurt Bench and Anthony Oliveri

Key Losses due to graduation: Clark Rothenburg and Tony Capek

League: El Camino

Key Matchups: Los Gatos  (March 27)

Prognosis: Since most of the players are undersized compared to players on other teams in the league, the team may have trouble in some matchups.

“This year will probably be a rebuild year as we do not have a lot of upperclassmen on the team, but hopefully with the incoming players the team will be very good in a couple years,” junior Quincy Owyang said.
