Early start, early release on March 4 for collaboration with Redwood

Due to a collaboration between Redwood Middle School and Saratoga High School on Wednesday, March 4, school will not have a late start like any other Wednesday.

Instead, classes will start at 7:50 a.m., but will also end one hour earlier than usual.

The collaboration will take place at SHS, where all the departments will get together and talk about what they have been teaching to their students. 

During the collaboration, principal Paul Robinson hopes to learn how SHS can make the transition from middle school to high school better for incoming students, especially “in light of the new curriculum and new ways of teaching with common core and state standards.”

Not only will the collaboration help ease the transition, but Robinson also plans to adjust the school curriculum based on what Redwood focuses on.

“Redwood is making changes, so the more we understand those changes, the more we might change some things here so that there aren’t any gaps, and the students can have a great experience,” said Robinson.

The last time the two schools had a collaboration like this was 15 years ago. Although Robinson said that there probably will not be another collaboration this year, he plans to have two collaborations next year.
