While Beyonce sells out Madison Square Garden and Katy Perry surfs the crowd at SAP Center, Saratoga’s own Esha Krishnamoorthy sings for crowds at local venues. Before she steps into the spotlight, like these world-famous stars, Krishnamoorthy shakes off her nerves and takes the stage with a bright smile.

Krishnamoorthy, a freshman, has been singing for 12 years. Her music career started at age 3 when she began Indian singing lessons. She soon realized that this genre was not her true calling, and switched to English singing lessons at age 8.
Aside from singing, she also plays the guitar, drums and the piano. Investing three to eight hours a week on music has helped her land multiple gigs around the community; when she performs, she usually sings and plays the guitar.
Krishnamoorthy has showcased her musical talents at numerous events such as the Audrie Pott Foundation fundraiser last October, at the Alameda Funeral Home, Saratoga’s Got Talent which took place last June in the McAfee Center and open mic at Blue Rock Shoot last fall.
“My favorite gig was definitely the Audrie Pott Foundation fundraiser, because I was able to perform a set of four songs, which was a really fun experience,” Krishnamoorthy said.
Krishnamoorthy hopes to continue performing as often as she can.
“When I hear about opportunities to perform, I always take them since it doesn't hurt to gain more exposure by performing in front of new crowds and different people,” Krishnamoorthy said.
She says people can contact her in different ways, such as approaching her through her Facebook page.
Since early last fall, Krishnamoorthy gained over 150 likes on a Facebook page dedicated to her new albums and covers. Her own covers can also be found on Soundcloud.
While Krishnamoorthy's usual genre is pop, she has started to expand the genres of music she sings, such as alternative and rock.
For the past 12 years, Krishnamoorthy’s devotion to music has led her to consider a career in the highly competitive industry.
“I've never been this passionate about something in my life, and even though I realize it's tough to get a career in music, I made a promise to myself to never give up and to keep working hard to achieve my dreams,” Krishnamoorthy said.
In efforts to maintain this goal, Krishnamoorthy has been getting in touch with music management companies and people in the music industry.
Though it may not be easy, Krishnamoorthy has promised herself to never give up and keep working on music to achieve her dreams.
“I know this might sound cheesy, but my biggest dream is to sell out Madison Square Garden and to win a Grammy,” Krishnamoorthy said.
