Purple Sparkly Candy Apples

Whether or not you plan on Trick-or-Treating this year, make it the best Halloween yet with sparkly purple candy apples!

We’ve all returned home after a night of Trick-or-Treating, scourging and sorting through our assorted treasures of chocolates and candies excitedly, yearning to stuff our faces.

Depending on the quantity and quality some years were better than others. (Anyone else ever get a toothbrush from that one hilarious neighbor?)

However, whether or not you plan on Trick-or-Treating this year, make it the best Halloween yet with sparkly purple candy apples!

Ingredients: 8 apples, 8 candy apple sticks, 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of light corn syrup, 1 cup of warm water, ⅛ teaspoon of Cinnamon Oil or Vanilla extract, edible shimmer dust and food coloring.

1. Combine the sugar, corn syrup and water in a pan and bring the mixture to boil, stirring constantly. To check if it’s the right temperature, pour in some cold water. If it hardens immediately and easily breaks in half, it’s ready. If it sinks to the bottom and is malleable, keep boiling.

2. Take the pan off the stove, add in the cinnamon oil (or vanilla extract,) red food coloring and blue food coloring.

3. Dip the apples and set them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and wait for them to dry. In between dipping, it helps if you have a pot of hot water to suspend the candy mixture in to keep it from hardening.

4. Brush the edible shimmer dust on the finished apples once they harden.

Enjoy your candy apples and share them with your friends!
