ASB pushes apparel sales

Sweatshirts, tank tops, socks, T-shirts, fleece—you name it, and the school is probably selling it. Newly redesigned apparel is on sale in the Activities Office, and the ASB is encouraging students to sport their school’s apparel.

Sweatshirts, tank tops, socks, T-shirts, fleece—you name it, and the school is probably selling it. Newly redesigned apparel is on sale in the Activities Office, and the ASB is encouraging students to sport their school’s apparel.

Alumnus Anthony Sutardja, last year’s ASB treasurer, had a new vision for the apparel and took it upon himself to redesign it. Taking recommendations from fellow ASB members as well as other students, Sutardja redesigned the school’s fleece, sweatshirts, and T-shirts and even added Falcon socks to the assortment. The new apparel is described as having a more modern look.

“Last year, the ASB and [assistant principal Karen] Hyde unanimously decided that the school needed new apparel after selling off the rest of its inventor,” Sutardja said. “I took recommendations from the ASB and students present at the frequent ASB general meetings [about how to redesign the apparel].”

Recently, however, this year’s ASB decided to push these sales through advertising on Facebook, morning announcements, as well as selling at school basketball games. Students will also model the apparel at the annual Benefit Fashion show on March 26. The advertising efforts have proven to be successful so far, and the ASB is looking to sell even more in the coming weeks.

“We’re pushing apparel sales to primarily boost school spirit,” ASB head commissioner Mac Hyde said. “But also to try to avoid any losses that might incur if they don’t sell.”

Items available for purchase include fleece zip up jackets ($35), Falcon socks ($7), sweatshirts ($20), sweatpants ($20), and T-shirts ($15).

If students wish to purchase any of these items, they can find them in the Activities Office during school hours and in the Large Gym during home varsity basketball games.
