SMASH’n silent auction to fundraise for MAP

May 23, 2019 — by Allison Hartley and Manasi Garg

The 2019 SMASH’N silent auction will be held until 9 p.m. on May 23, featuring prizes ranging from 49ers tickets, to a Pacific Grove Beach House getaway, to Rascal Flatts concert tickets and more. The SMASH’N online auction link is on Facebook with a complete list of prizes. Special bidding instructions are listed under each prize.

The auction committee, made up of parents Rehana Rehman, Sandi Payne and Fawn Babin, reached out to 70 donors and secured 66 prizes with an estimated value of nearly $9,000 from 44 donors.

The committee wanted to take a newer approach to fundraising by involving the entire Saratoga community, not just the school community.

“We were trying to approach this task by being out-of-the-box and creative about the ways to improve our fundraising efforts. Most importantly, we went after auction items that we felt would appeal to all students and our wider Saratoga community,” Rehman said.

Already, they have exceeded their profits by 21 percent compared to last year.

“SMASH'N is celebrating the work of MAP students, but the SMASH'N Online Auction was to collectively reach our whole Falcon community including parents and friends,” Rehman said.
