Why Kenny Beats deserves more praise

October 18, 2019 — by Edwin Chen

When you hear the words “Whoa Kenny” as the producer tag on a rap song, you already know it’s my boy Kenny Beats producing a fire track.

Kenneth Blume III, a 27-year-old Connecticut producer who goes by the name Kenny Beats, has produced all kinds of rap songs, from famous meme songs such as rapper Zack Fox’s “Jesus Is The One (I Got Depression)” to lyrical songs such as rapper Rexx Life Raj’s “Moonwalk.”

Kenny produces beats for established artists such as rappers Vince Staples and Freddie Gibbs, as well as for rising artists such as rappers Rico Nasty and 03 Greedo.

None of Kenny’s beats are generic. His tracks contain a variety of different sound effects such as whistling on DaBaby’s “Toes” and punching sound effects on Zack Fox’s “Square Up.” Despite his obscure status, his unique creativity will one day make him one of hip hop’s hottest producers.
