January 29, 2014 — by Minu Palaniappan and Devin Zhao

This year, the boys' lacrosse team wishes to beat Gunn and make CCS.

Sport: Boys’ lacrosse

Coach: Bill Kurtz

Last season’s record: 5-13

Last season’s recap: The Falcons failed to make CCS last year. Their new coach Kurtz was their assistant coach for the last two years and should provide a change of pace this season for the Falcons in the El Camino League since he was not able to achieve his goals as assistant coach.

Star athletes: Seniors Tony Capek and Holden Peake

Key additions: Sophomores Quincy Owyang and Liam Kaiser, freshman Aidan Peck

Key matchups: Los Altos on March 25 and Carlmont on April 24

Goals for season: “Our goal for this season is to beat Gunn. We lost to them last year, and they’re really bad,” said senior attack Clark Rothenburg. “We also have a couple of freshmen who have been playing [with the] Redhawks [Saratoga youth lacrosse program] for a long time, and a couple of sophomores that are joining, so we should have a strong lineup.”
