The Brodie Country Band came to perform as a fundraiser for the MAP program, as well as educate students about the music industry at the McAfee Center on Jan. 17.
Members include Brodie Stewart, Kevin Hampton, Jason Shoemaker, Brandon Gates, Rod Simpkins and Mattieu Grace
“They came to talk about what its like to be inside the music industry,” MAP student junior Ben Glasstone said. “The event was set up by the MAP speaker series committee.”
Glasstone said the band is well-known in the country rock community, and that there will be three more shows just like this.
“I did enjoy the show, it was not the music I was expecting them to play,” Glasstone said.
Junior Ehrland Hollingsworth noted the turnout was unfortunate, although he said about 100 people were in attendance.
“I did go to the show and I had a good time, but I thought it was a shame that more people didn't attend,” Hollingsworth said.
Junior Grant Wang, who played a large part in organizing the event, said that he considered the event a success.
“I can't give you the exact numbers, but the event was considered a success with a profit,” Wang said. “But remember, the event was more of a learning experience then a fundraising event. The success of the event was in more of the amount of knowledge students learned about the competitive music industry.”
