Toga’s Got Talent an emotional night for seniors

May 24, 2016 — by Julia Miller

Senior fundraiser, Toga's got Talent on May 6 found great success.

A small crowd gathered for a show of big talents at the annual Toga’s Got Talent Show on May 6, held in the McAfee Center.
All students could participate; however, the seniors made it a night of their own by coordinating, hosting and being a majority of the performers.
Acts included singing, dancing, instrumental and stand-up comedy, but most involved a singer and their instrument, like senior Anne Rollison, who strummed her guitar as she covered the song “Step Off” by Kacey Musgraves.
Others were accompanied by a dancer during their ballads. Senior Nina Nelson performed “Rise Up” by Andra Day, as sophomore Ania Kranz danced along, as well as senior Michael Z. Guo on the piano, accompanied by senior Matt Tran’s unique dance routine choreographed especially for the song.
Saratoga High’s dance team and Toga Tamasha made an appearance and performed their routines on stage.
Other acts included seniors Sanam Mohan and Anne Rollison singing a duet to “No Air” by Jordin Sparks, featuring Chris Brown, senior Chloe Koon dancing in two solo performances, and stand up comedy by senior Cole Petters.
Senior and co-host Kylie Stokes said her favorite part of the show was jumping on stage with senior and co-host Isa Berardo without any prior knowledge of what acts were ahead.
“Isa and I came up with what we were going to say on the spot,” Stokes said.
It was an emotional night for the seniors, and one they will never forget. Toga’s Got Talent Show was the last opportunity for  the class of 2016 to perform on stage.
With a farewell from hosts, seniors Kylie Stokes and Isa Berardo, seniors said goodbye to the McAfee stage and prepared for the end of their high school career.
“It was emotional because we realized that there’s been a lot of lasts [this semester], and this had been one of them,” Stokes said.
