Review: Class of 2018 scares at Quad day 2016

Juniors showed off all their hard work over the past weeks during their “Monsters Inc.”-themed Quad Day on Sept. 29. This year the juniors pushed for — and got — increased participation in the dances, decorations and overall spirit.

The class had seven dances: all boys, all girls, partner, Kpop, Bollywood, stunt dance and finale.

“The stunt dance’s choreography was much harder this year, and the dancers themselves actually knew the steps,” junior Ayush Aggrawal said.

Nine boys participated in the stunt dance, each with different talents to showcase. At the end of the dance they pulled down their pants to show the words “SHS 2018!” on their underwear.

“The idea was funny but when it came to it, it was embarrassing,” junior Atlas Yuen admitted.

Partner dance choreographer Kate Bossi said the most challenging part was getting over 30 people to practice and organizing formation.

“At the end everyone came together to make our dance look so awesome!” Bossi said.

The class participation and spirit earned them a close second place finish behind the senior class.  

The skit featured Connor Reyes as Sully, Bossi as Mike, and Ketki Palande as Randall. The storyline followed them collecting the screams of each grade by scaring them.

“Figuring out the plot line was very difficult,” said Reyes, a lead script writer. “A lot of time was spent throwing ideas off of friends to see what fit well.”

He tried to make it as entertaining as possible so everyone would be as interested in it as they were in the dances.

The dancers and skit members practiced nearly every day the week before the Quad Day to perfect their show.

“I think in general, though, we really came together in a way we haven’t ever really done before,” Aggrawal said. “I’ve never seen this much spirit from my class and it was nice to finally have it.”
